About Me:
I was born in Winnipeg to a firefighter father and homemaker mother, and I was the lone boy alongside three sisters. I was a shy, quiet kid with a mostly pretty average upbringing, but I was one of the 'geeks - nerds (and every other variation - I was called them all). I took a lot of teasing and abuse, but that's helped shape me into the person I am today - basically a nice, caring guy who doesn't like to judge and wants to always keep an open mind. I eventually landed in Morden (2006 pop. of about 6,800) and landed a great, incredible wife. While my low paying, low reward job is the source of much frustration, I have come to very much appreciate living and working in the country. It is the best of both worlds, being about an hour and a half from Winnipeg. My wife Michelle and I crave travel and expanding our horizons. And while I try to figure myself out some more, my spiritual faith journey continues. I am sure God has been very frustrated with me, and I wouldn't blame him for losing patience ... I don't know what awaits for me or what my calling may be, but ... "a good traveller has no fixed plans and is not intent on arriving." (Lao Tzu).

Alone: A Poem

Alone

--

Will someone save me

save me

give my soul
a helping hand

Help me

help revive and cure
this hopeless man

Find me

find exactly what I am

--

If I let a little light
into this safe
dark world

think what I'ld see
was frightening?

Behind the walls
that I've built

hiding me from
that feeling

alone
alone

--

If your hand
plucks me out
from obscurity

turns me around

face my insecurity

Would I have the strength
to change my ways

and not be alone

--

Make myself
a future

find… Continue

Beyond the Gate - A Poem

BEYOND THE GATE

I watch them

soaring up so high

and I wonder

what is it like
to be
so free

from the shackles
that bind you

free

from those voices
that haunt you

be sensible
be safe

why must you look beyond the gate

into the world
of hate

insecurities

pushing and pulling

tugging at you

screaming

They try to paint you

colours
melding into sharp tones

it stabs you

but
beyond the gate

a flash
just a split second

a reflection
from within you

you know

It is time.
