Playlist: Bastardistas
New music from South America by emerging artists. Bonsuccesso Samba Clube are from Olinda -- a suburb of Recife in Northern Brazil. I met them while they were recording in Sao Paulo. I saw Celia Mara perform in Recife. Her live show is full of oddball highjinks -- check out her live video below. I first met Giana Viscardi here in Boston but, sadly, she has returned to Sao Paulo and performs there now. Marta Gomez is also a former Boston musician who now lives in New York. Pau D'agua (above in photo) is another Paulista band playing samba in a local club every Sunday night!!
